Columbus police are investigating a Friday night shooting that left one teenager dead.

Officers found Levy Lamont Daniel, 17, lying in the middle of the Veterans Parkway, near Booker T. Washington Apartments at about 10:45 p.m. Daniel had been shot in the lower back, police said.

He was transported to The Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead, two minutes after midnight, Muscogee County coroner Bill Thrower said.

Police know that Daniel went down to the apartments with some friends to visit people, but do not know what happened after that.

Police do not have any suspects at this time.

Daniel's death was the second fatal shooting that occurred Friday. Police are also still investigating the death of Brian Alexander Brown, 33, who was shot in the head after a dispute at Johnston Mill Lofts. He was pronounced dead at The Medical Center Friday morning.
