Partnerships between area businesses and Troup County Schools is giving students work opportunities in careers that interest them.

Troup County School System's Community Based Work and Training Program is working with 12 area businesses to take students out of the classroom and into the work force. The partnerships allow students to “explore work opportunities and enlarge their vision of their future,” according to a press release from the school system.

School system staff works with middle and high school students to determine appropriate types of work and identify career interests. They are then placed at work in an area business.

Participating businesses include: IHOP, Longhorn Steakhouse, the LaGrange Daily News, Hampton Inn, Piggly Wiggly, Troup County Parks and Recreation Center, First Baptist Church, Food Depot, Salvation Army and The Troup Senior Center.
