Columbus landscaper Lee Bayard, 73, died Monday

G. Lee Bayard, 73, died Monday at Grand Oaks Nursing Home in Palm Coast, Fla.

Bayard was the well-known owner of Lee Bayard/Nurseryman, and was a pioneer in the Columbus Historic District.

The graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele, Ga., according to the Rainey Family Funeral Service in Cordele.

He was born in Crisp County, the son of the late George and Bobbie Booth Bayard. He was a veteran of the United States Army and an active member of First Baptist Church in Columbus.

Survivors include two aunts, Bebe Kemp of Columbus and Mildred Cauley of Cordele; three cousins, Nancy Willis of Ormond Beach, Fla., Jan Livingston of Palatka, Fla. and Richard Hatfield of Columbus.
