The second season of "Pretty Little Liars" premiered June 14 on ABC Family. Here's a recap.
Welcome back to “Pretty Little Liars”!!! Woo hoo!
The show kicks off right where we left off last season. Ian may or may not be dead. The shady cop -- the one who's romantically involved with Jenna -- is still plotting something evil.
Meanwhile, the girls’ parents don’t want them spending so much time together. All the kids at school think they're crazy. The crew lands a therapy appointment ASAP.
On a brighter note, Aria’s mom is moving back in with the family. I’m sure happy to see Mr. Fitz again. Too bad Noel Khan is back at school. Aria shuts Mr. Fitz out of her life, largely due to the fact that his ex is back in town.
Mr. Fitz promises he’s still in love with Aria. They have a heart-to-heart conversation at Mr. Fitz’s apartment, and everything seems kind of OK. However, as Aria is leaving, “A” sends her a text message that makes her learn her key is no longer under Mr. Fitz’s doormat. Uh oh.
Hanna’s former love interest, Caleb, arrives back in town. Lucas – the quirky yearbook guy – drops him off. When Hanna gets home, Caleb is chilling with her mom.
Caleb tells her about the letter that Mona threw away. “I love you,” Caleb says. Hanna vows she’ll never be able to forget that he used her. With that, their relationship ends. Or does it?
In the conversation’s aftermath, Hanna confronts Mona about the letter. Mona apologizes and says she thought she was doing the right thing. Then, Hanna realizes Mona is on a date with Noel Khan. Awkward.
Spencer is still smitten with Toby. She tries to visit him at home, but Jenna answers the door and aborts the plan. Fortunately they're able to enjoy a makeout session later.
Emily’s family is still moving away. Naturally, Emily isn’t too happy about the idea.
Time for the girls’ first therapy session. They consider telling the therapist about “A,” but ditch the plan. On their way out of the office, they see a newspaper with the Ian story on the front page. "A" sends them a text message: "I spy a liar."
Later, they change their mind and decide to tell the therapist about “A.” That is, until they arrive in her office and find Mr. Fitz's diploma on her wall. Presumably, "A" used the key, broke into Mr. Fitz's apartment and put the diploma in the therapist's office. The girls walk out of the appointment, prompting the therapist to dissuade the girls from spending time together.
In the show’s final moments, the therapist walks out of her office and is followed by a mysterious figure.
Spencer finds Melissa's phone and finds this text message from a private number: “Melissa, I’m sorry but it’s not safe yet. I can’t tell you."
Posing as Melissa, the girls reply with this line: "How do I know this is you?"
"Ask me anything."
"What are we naming our baby?"
"Taylor."
It's the right answer. Ian’s alive!?!
As the show ends, "A" tours Emily's house, which is up for sale. He/she deletes some files from Emily's computer.
