Roundball Roundup: Team 2 cruises past Team 1

Child, Youth & School Services youth basketball teams continued action Saturday at the CYSS gym.

In the 9- to 10-year-old age division, Team 2 nearly held Team 1 scoreless, winning 36-2. The only points for Team 1 came from free throws in the third and fourth quarters by Riley Courser and Zachary Chestnut. Jason Youngblood led Team 2 with 10 points. Team 2 had seven players contribute in scoring.

In the late game of the 9- to 10-year-old division, Team 4 held on late to beat Team 3 16-11. Colin Castleton lifted Team 4 to the win with two 3-pointers coming in the second and third quarters. Castleton finished with 12 points. Team 3 kept within striking distance but could never quite pull ahead into the lead. Hudson Zeisman led Team 3 with four points.

In the first game of the 11- to 13-year-old division, Team 1 defeated Team 2 in a tight matchup, 18-14. Quinton Carter led Team 2 with 10 points but it was not enough to overcome the balanced offense of Team 1. Five players scored for Team 1, led by Rajea Money, who had seven points. Team 2 trailed 13-6 at halftime, but rallied in the third quarter. Neither team was able to score in the fourth quarter.

In the second game of the 11- to 13-year-old division Team 4 avenged their Jan. 15 loss to Team 3 with a 31-14 win over Team 3. Dalton Pritt led all scorers in the game with 15 points, including a 3-pointer in the fourth quarter. Marquel Fordham led Team 3 with six points. Team 4 pulled away early and went into halftime with a 16-5 lead.
