The Columbus and Fort Benning Cruise-A-Matics defeated Athens 22-11 Saturday, putting them in the first-place seat in the USA Rugby South Pool.

An initial try occurred during the first half and was run in by Ed Crane.

Crane ran in another try after supporting a 60-meter run by Blake Bourne during the closing minutes of the first half.

Following a try by Athens, Crane passed a rucked ball to Kip Randall to score the third try.

After two missed penalty kicks from Athens, a fourth and final try came during a pick-and-go by Fort Benning’s Joe Strauf.

This was the second win for the Cruise-A-Matics over Athens after winning earlier this year in Columbus.

The Cruise-A-Matics will play at home Saturday at 2 p.m. behind the Dolly Madison Bakery in Columbus.
