How I Became the Bomb, a synth-pop band hailing from Nashville, Tenn., will be joined by the Modern Skirts, an Athens band that has attracted large crowds at the Loft during past performances.

How I Became the Bomb was formed in 2005 in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and began touring regionally while attracting national and international press.

The quintet promises a tight and attention-grabbing live act, designed to make you want to dance. They are currently at work on their second studio album.

The Modern Skirts began performing in Athens in 2005 and have been cited as a favorite Athens band of Mike Mills, the bassist for R.E.M.

The quartet has sustained a regional following, while landing national and international touring gigs with its infectious blend of alternative rock. They’ve recently released their third studio album, Gramahawk. Fans at Saturday’s performance can expect an energetic stage presence that also embraces the band’s studio recordings.

Saturday’s show begins at 9 p.m. and tickets are $8.
