This year’s Frogtown Hollow Jam will offer more than just bluegrass music, says organizer Jon Saunders.

The two-day music festival will also feature a fishing tournament, hot air balloon rides and a fun zone for the kids, as well as 17 bands performing rock, bluegrass, country and blues.

“We started out with just bluegrass, but we got away from that to meet a bigger demand,” Saunders said. Festival-goers can expect music from Packway Handle, Mindblender, Barbwire Bluegrass, Peggy Jenkins and the Bizness and Whisky Bent, among others.

Vendors will offer an equally diverse menu of food for sale, including barbecue, quail, frog legs, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, funnel cakes, ice cream and a chocolate fountain.

Looking for something to do with the kids? The jam will also feature hot air balloon rides, inflatables, train rides, face painting, a stilt walker, games and arts and crafts.

“It’s a family festival,” Saunders said. “We just want to put Columbus back on the map as a festival city.”

A new addition to the festival this year is Big Cat Quest, a fishing tournament on the Chattahoochee on Saturday, April 9. Licensed fishers will have the opportunity to try and land the biggest catfish and compete for $5,000 in cash and prizes. The tournament will end with a weighing on the main stage at 5 p.m. on Saturday.

The festival will end each day with an after party at eighty-five on Front Avenue.

Tickets are $10 a day and can be purchased on site or in advanced at SoHo Bar and Grill or AJ’s Bar and Grill.
