Calvary Christian finalized on Wednesday the schedule for its inaugural 2011 football season with eight games, including two at home.

Calvary athletic director and football coach Brian Osborne, who was hired in June to start the team, said he expects the team's equipment to begin being delivered this week and he has tentative plans to hold a spring practice session in late April or early May. Osborne said he also is hoping to add a ninth game to the schedule.

Calvary is in talks with the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department to use the football field at Britt David Park for its home games. A football field is planned at Calvary, but the school has plans to build a new middle school before relocating the baseball field and replacing it with a football field, Osborne said.

Last week Calvary was accepted into the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia and Alabama Athletic Association and will play 11-man football in its South Division, which is also home to New Life Christian, Life Christian Academy, Holy Ground Baptist and Creekside Christian.
