A downtown nightclub is expanding into happy hour starting this week.
MixUltra on Broadway debuts earlier operating hours -- opening at 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday -- as well as a new food and drink menu this week, designed to cater to more working professionals downtown.
MixUltra has been open about nine months for drinks, music and dancing, beginning at 9 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, but owner and resident DJ Roonie G said that expanding into happy hour was always part of the plan.
We want to push the experience, Roonie said. The decor is different, the ambience of the room is different.
The clubs music video lounge will play a mix of 70s 80s and 90s rock. Diners can expect a menu of Asian cuisine with Spanish, exotic and Southern influences, including dishes like pork fajitas and chicken satay. MixUltra also has a new four-page martini menu that includes several lower-calorie skinny martinis.
Come to MixUltra between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. today for the grand opening and you could win a prize, like an office party for 10 or a free massage from Wildwood Day Spa. There will also be drink specials and karaoke beginning at 7 p.m.
Roonie said he hoped the new menus and music would attract older working professionals to the club after work and provide them with a place to network and socialize.
In about a month, he hopes to add a lunch menu and bring his brother, who is a chef, in to do the cooking.
We actually did music 10 years ago together, he said. Im still with doing music and hes kind of the food side of it.
Happy hour at MixUltra is Wednesday through Friday, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Between these hours, there is no cover charge or dress code.
MixUltra is also open as a nightclub Wednesday through Saturday, from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m.
