Superman or Spiderman?

Whether you like traditional superheroes or something more obscure, Free Comic Book Day at the Coca-Cola Space Science Center offers a chance to learn more about comic books and graphic novels through a variety of workshops and presentations.

Participants will also receive three comics with the price of admission -- part of the 2.7 million comic books given out across the world during the event celebrated annually at comic book specialty shops.

Free Comic Book Day is sponsored locally by the Columbus Book Exchange and will also feature a costume contest, art competition and giveaways.

Guest comic book artist Andy Runton will speak on the art of storytelling through comics. Runton is the artist, writer and creator of the Owly graphic novels. The books tell the story of Owly, a kind-hearted little owl who knows what it means to be human. Runton will also sign copies of his work and do Owly drawings at the event.

For a complete schedule of workshops, visit the center’s web site here.
