For her second album, local country artist Becca Rae Greene wanted something simple and intimate.
“No fancy production, no added bells and whistles -- just my voice and guitar.” is how she describes “Somewhere in Georgia,” her collection of original acoustic country music.
Fans will get a chance to hear Greene’s new songs during her album release party this Saturday at the Loft. Tickets are $15 and include an autographed copy of “Somewhere in Georgia,” dessert and admission to the show.
In her sophomore release, Greene said she wanted to focus on the songwriting and give fans who purchase the CD an experience like they might find during a live performance.
Performing live shows is an area where Greene has some experience. She’s opened in concert for Loretta Lynn and Montgomery Gentry and also spent some time in Nashville, playing honky-tonks like Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge and The Bluebird Cafe.
Greene said her inspiration for her songs comes from the places she’s been and the people she’s known.
“There are several songs on this album that document ordinary, everyday life in Columbus,” she wrote. “There are also specific songs about people who have made a difference in my life.”
The release party starts at 7:30 p.m. For more information, call the Loft at 706-596-8141.
