The only thing more eclectic than range of music genres at Summer Side Show IX may be the unusual band names.

Misfortune 500. Marcy Playground. Gweedo and the Edible Thursdays. Enucleation. Tommy Pastrami and the Traveling Circus Quartet.

The line-up for Saturday’s all ages music festival includes 100 bands on eight stages in Woodruff Park, covering a variety of sounds, including indie rock, folk, metal, punk, dubstep and instrumental.

Here are some local, regional and national acts -- all creatively named -- that you can expect to see at the show:

Marcy Playground: If you listened to Top 40 radio in the 90s, you probably remember this band’s number one single, “Sex and Candy.” Since 1997, the band’s music has been featured in movies such as “Cruel Intentions,” “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” and “Zack and Miri Make a Porno.” They have also produced four other albums. Their latest release, Indaba Remixes from Wonderland, is a collection of remixes of Marcy Playground songs, submitted by fans. Marcy Playground headlines Side Show IX and will play at 10 p.m. Tickets for just this band are $10.

Attila: This party death metal band from Atlanta takes its name from Attila the Hun and has been touring nonstop for four years. According to the band’s Facebook page, their latest album, RAGE, is a mix of heavy music infused with elements designed to put the listener in the mood to party. The album’s title also has a double meaning -- to be extremely angry or to party.

Misfortune 500: This Athens-based band has shared a stage with members of the B-52’s, IAMX and The Sun and the Moon and describes its sound as “merging an arena rock presence with a pure indie rock sensibility, while combining shoegaze, post-punk and dance rock.”

Call Us Tragedy: This six-piece metal band hails from Harris County and is currently writing its first full length album, due to be finished around late June. Members have nicknames such as “Katastrophy” and the “Italian Stallion.”

The Winter Sounds: This indie rock band got its start in Athens, toured the U.S., then moved to Nashville. They describe their sound as “epic indie new wave dance folk and punk anthems.”

Gweedo and the Edible Thursdays: This three-piece band also comes from Harris County and plays a mix of punk, garage and regional Mexican. They promise a live show with a lot of humor, cover songs and catchy original music.

Jacobs Ladder: This three-man progressive rock band from Miami, Fla. formed in the summer of 2001 and has played more than 500 shows and 13 national tours, including SXSW in 2010. Their influences include Jimmy Eat World, the Foo Fighters, Incubus and New Found Glory.

Tickets to Side Show IX are $25 in advance and $30 at the gate. For more information and a complete list of bands, check out the official event page on Facebook.
