Lakebottom Park is going to be a huge mess this Saturday.

Well, Ashley Osborne hopes it will be.

Osborne is hosting the first Messy Games, a kids’ festival and fundraiser for St. Jude, at the park’s band shell.

The 15 booths at the festival will feature all kinds of sloppy activities, so wear old clothes, she advises. You might have to dig through chocolate pudding to find a gummi worm or play a game involving snorkling and spaghetti.

Osborne’s personal favorite is “Duck, Duck, Egg,” a variation of “Duck, Duck, Goose,” -- only those tagged “it” will walk away with egg on their face.

A Messiest Kid will be crowned every hour and there will also be other door prizes and raffles during the games. If making a mess makes you hungry, there will be hamburgers, hot dogs and ice cream for sale.

The games are geared mostly to elementary and middle school students, she said. It’s free to play after paying entrance to the games, which is $5 per family. All of the money goes to St. Jude. Osborne is running in a half-marathon in Savannah in support of the charity and hopes to raise $1,200.

“Hopefully it will be a really fun day,” she said.

Need to hose the kids off before you head home? Don’t worry -- Goo Goo Car Wash will also be at the Messy Games, sponsoring a clean-up station.
