Tony Stevens Slow Ride Original Foghat includes the most famous hit song from the British blues-rock band Foghat in its name, so its no surprise that Slow Ride is in the bands repertoire.
But take it easy -- youll have to wait to hear it.
Tony Stevens, bassist and singer for Tony Stevens Slow Ride Original Foghat, said they usually reserve their most requested song for the end of the show. But that doesnt stop concert-goers from requesting it.
All the way through the concert theyll ask for it, he said.
Tony Stevens Slow Ride Original Foghat plays the Phenix City Amphitheater this Saturday at 8 p.m. Admission is $10.
Besides Slow Ride, Stevens said those at Saturdays concert can expect a performance of Fool for the City and lots of fun and loud music.
Stevens was a member of the original Foghat until the 1970s, but hes not the only member of the new band with classic rock credentials. Tony Stevens Slow Ride Original Foghat also includes musicians who have performed with Savoy Brown, Rick Derringer, Hall and Oates and Brian Howe of Bad Company.
Its a great bunch of lads. Its just a pleasure to play with them all, Stevens said, adding that no one in the band plays the prima donna.
Im not a prima donna. Im more of a Lady Gaga, he said.
Stevens may not share the younger generations enthusiasm for social networking -- he lets other band members handle his Facebook page -- but hes seen plenty of younger fans at concerts, usually accompanied by their parents and grandparents.
Im seeing three generations of Foghat fans, he said. And theyre all loving it. They love classic rock.
