Every year, I look over the listings of area summer camps and I wish I could take part in one or two of them.
It seems that Im not the only adult who longs for the days of summer when I had all the time in the world. When it seemed that summers went on and on.
Now, I know better. Summers over in a flash. Ive noticed that as I get older, the years actually do fly by. For instance, its already mid-June. Werent we celebrating Auburn Universitys BSC win just last month?
Laura Williams, who works in the Columbus State University Schwob School of Musics Preparatory Division, is another who wishes she could take a summer camp or two.
So she came up with the Mini Summer Music Camps -- For the Music-Minded Adults and Young Adult Musicians and Music Lovers.
OK, she admits thats a way too long name for the summer camp.
Lets just call it Mini Summer Music Camps.
The Preparatory Division used to be call the Music Conservatory, in case youre wondering.
Here are the camps:
Music Theory Revisited: This class is for those who have taken music theory classes in the past. Its intended for music teachers and musicians. 9-11 a.m. June 27-30. The instructor is Kristen Hansen. $79.

Building a Home Studio: For adults. 7-9 p.m. July 18-22. The instructor is Matthew McCabe. $159.
There is a $10 registration fee, but if you refer a friend who signs up, the office will waive the fee.
I could definitely not take the refresher course on music theory because the only music I can play is when I push the on button of my CD player. But I do think its perfect for music teachers and musicians as well as students who want to keep up their studies during the summer.
