Event on Saturday will blend job search assistance with health checks

5:27pm on Jul 5, 2011; Modified: 5:38pm on Jul 5, 2011

Get your blood pressure checked as you’re preparing to search for a job.

Most might argue that’s not a bad idea, and the opportunity to do just that is coming up Saturday.

The Georgia Department of Labor’s Columbus Career Center will co-sponsor a “career information workshop” 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at The Impact Center, 1600 Blanchard Blvd., Columbus.

Labor department staffers will assist people with resumes, offer job-search strategies and techniques, and serve up a general update on the local job market.

Health-care workers will be on hand as well, offering to check your blood pressure and cholesterol.

The Impact Center is a worship facility operated by Ann Hardman Ministries.
