When Tom Turuso decided to go into the nightclub business, he wanted to create a place that was classy.
Theres no place on the north side of town thats really classy where people can enjoy themselves, Turuso said. This is the place where the most beautiful women and guys are going to be.
Turuso is talking about Illusions, a new nightclub off of Veterans Parkway opening to the public Saturday at 7 p.m.. It fills the space formerly occupied by H20 and Muldoons.
While Turuso said he hasnt changed the decor much since H2O occupied the space, he has lots of ideas for features and specials, gathered from people hes talked to around Columbus.
Turuso plans on playing a lot of 70s, 80 and 90s music during the bars happy hour to attract an older business crowd. After 10 p.m. the bar will play more current music to bring in younger partiers.
The bar will have a DJ every day, beginning at 5 p.m. and Turuso plans on scheduling some live acts later in the summer. Hes already got specials planned for during the week.
On Tuesdays, the bar will offer 25 cent wings. Wednesdays will be Coyote Ugly nights, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. On Thursdays, head to Illusions for margarita and daiquiri specials, plus free chips and salsa.
Right now, the bar will be open Tuesday through Saturday, from 4 p.m. to close, but Turuso said Illusions might start opening earlier on Saturdays for sports fans who want to watch games on the clubs upper level.
There is a dress code -- no T-shirts with messages or tank tops for men.
Friday and Saturday nights people like to dress up, Turuso said.
There is a cover charge of $5 on Friday and Saturdays, but for those who plan on visiting Illusions often, Turuso recommended the V.I.P. pass.
The pass costs $100 and is good for six months. As a V.I.P., you get 26 entrances to the bar and 10 percent off the bill after 9 p.m.
