Columbus police are investigating a report that someone tried to entice a 14-year-old girl into his vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

Police say that the girl was walking home along Bunker Hill Road around 2:15 p.m. when a man driving a bright red SUV with rims pulled up next to her. He handed her a business card and asked if her parents needed lawn care.

The girl took the card and kept walking, and that’s when the man asked where she lived. The question made the girl nervous and she just waved her hand, indicating her home was further up the road, reports state.

The SUV driver then offered her a ride home, saying he wanted to talk to her for a “little bit” and that it wouldn’t hurt her to get in his vehicle, police said.

An officer responded to the girl’s home around 8 p.m. that night to take a report on the incident.
