Longtime Aflac board member Janke dies at age 77

Kenneth S. Janke Sr., a longtime member of the Aflac board of directors, died unexpectedly Saturday in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., where he resides.

Janke, 77, suffered a heart attack, Columbus-based Aflac said Monday.

He had served on the supplemental insurance firm’s board from 1989 until 2010. He also was a retired chairman and chief executive officer of the National Association of Investors Corp.

Janke attended Michigan State University, served in the U.S. Army, was a golf professional and authored four golf books and two investment books, according to his obituary. He and wife, Sally, were married 54 years.

Their son, Kenneth S. Janke Jr., is executive vice president and deputy chief financial officer of Aflac, where he has worked since 1985.

A memorial service for his father will take place Wednesday in Birmingham, Mich.
