The Landsharks say goodbye to summer

Haven’t made it to the beach this summer?

Phenix City Parks and Recreation is closing out its summer concert series with a beach-themed party and a performance by The Landsharks, a Jimmy Buffett and Beach Boys tribute band.

Besides having a diverse song list, the band is famous for include the audience in their performances.

“They’re good at getting the audience involved,” said Rebecca Harris, the special events coordinator for Phenix City Parks and Recreation. “They’re a show band.”

The band has also played with Jimmy Buffett in concert and at Buffett’s Margaritaville Cafe. They are currently recording their first CD, as well as a Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band CD.

If the heat has deterred you from coming to previous outdoor concerts, Harris said the weather usually cools off once the sun goes down.

She said beach-related prizes given away during the concert, including a trip to Panama City.

Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children 12 and younger.

There are no coolers allowed in the amphitheater, but concessions are available.
