Auburn police have charged a Union Springs, Ala., man with attempted murder in connection with an early Sunday wreck on Shug Jordan Parkway.

Reginald E. Parham Jr., 20, is being held in the Lee County Jail under $25,000 bond, police said.

Parham’s arrest stems from a 2 a.m. CDT Sunday wreck in the 1300 block of Shug Jordan Parkway. Chasman L. Reese, 21, of Opelika, Ala., left the road in his 1999 Mazda Millenia and collided with a utility pole. Reese was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and officers later discovered bullet holes from a shotgun on the vehicle, reports state.

The police investigation led to Parham as a suspect. Parham turned himself in to police Sunday afternoon, according to reports.

Police said Reese remains in critical condition.
