Representatives from Uptown Columbus, the Springer Opera House, downtown businesses and other community organizations gathered at the Springer Theatre Academy this morning for the announcement of the Uptown Fall Event series.

Here are some events to expect during the fall in downtown Columbus:

-- More concerts: If you enjoyed Uptown's Summer concert series, check out some of the local and regional artists playing on Broadway in the fall. Expect to hear music from Big Woody and the Splinters, Haywire, Classic Addict, Whisky Bent and Knoxville-based band The Dirty Guv'nahs.

-- Movies outdoors: The Greater Columbus Georgia Young Professionals and Uptown will present Screen on the Green on Tuesday, September 20 on the CSU RiverPark campus. Lingo will play a concert at 6 p.m., followed the the Screen on the Green movie, "X-Men First Class."

-- Seafood: The Market's 2nd annual Seafood Festival will be October 1st from noon to 10 p.m. at 1039 First Avenue. Last year, organizers went through 6,000 pounds of seafood on two cooking stations. This year, they're doubling that amount and adding eight more cooking stations, as well as an oyster bar.
