Want to see a free movie next week?
Check out Uptowns Screen on the Green on Tuesday, September 20 on the lawn behind Columbus State Universitys RiverPark campus. The movie this year, X-Men: First Class, was chosen by popular vote on the events website and will be shown on a 70-foot screen.
This is the second year that members of the Greater Columbus Georgia Young Professionals have organized the event. More than 1,200 people attended last years film.
Lingo, a Kennesaw-based rock band, will kick on Screen on the Green with a concert at 6 p.m. The band is known for its southern-infused rock, soulful vocals and thoughtful lyrics. The movie will begin at 7 p.m.
Moviegoers can bring picnic blankets, food and non-alcoholic beverages, but glass containers, umbrellas, high-backed chairs, grills and pets should be left at home. There will also be vendors selling food and drinks at the event.
Downtown parking decks will be open free of charge.
