Yes, there will be a mechanical bull.
Thats just one reason to attend the Russell County Stampede Rodeo, held Friday and Saturday at the Twin Cities Classic Arena (also known as the Exchange Club Arena).
The event, hosted by the Russell County Sheriffs Department and the Russell County Cattlemens Association, is in its first year. But rodeo chairman Gary Head has high expectations.
I think its going to be huge, said Head, who is also president of the Russell County Cattlemens Association.
The rodeo is sanctioned by the Professional Cowboy Association and will include events like bareback riding, calf roping, steer wrestling and more. Not into the events? There are plenty of other reasons to attend.
Were going to have all kinds of vendors, Head said, adding that the event appeals to guests of all ages.
This is a family entertainment function. Well have very tight security, Head said, adding that alcohol will not be permitted on the rodeo grounds.
Oh yeah, dont forget about the mechanical bull.
Its safe, Head promises, noting that youll be surrounded by cushioned material if you fall.
