Columbus police: Motorcycle officer being checked for injuries after wreck

A Columbus police officer was being checked for injuries after losing control of his patrol motorcycle and wrecking on the Manchester Expressway this afternoon, police said.Officer Fred Carnes did not appear to have been seriously injured in the accident reported at 12:48 p.m., said police Capt. Bill Turner.He said Carnes' was eastbound on the expressway and exiting onto the parkway when his motorcycle ran off the ramp's right side. Apparently no other vehicle was involved in the accident, but it was still being investigated, Turner said.He said Carnes' motorcycle was not damaged beyond repair.
