These zombies don’t want your brains. They want your shoes.

The Model United Nations Club and the National Art Honor Society at Hardaway High School have banded together to host a Zombie Walk and Fall Festival this Friday at the Hardaway track behind the school on Clubview Drive.

The festival will benefit Soles4Souls, a non-profit that collects and distributes shoes to people living in extreme poverty and recovering from natural disasters.

Admission to the festival is three pairs of gently used shoes or $2. One of the organizers, Ashley Snow, said they are hoping to raise $2500 and gather 1000 pairs of shoes to send to Soles4Souls.

The festival will have games including a balloon pop, beanbag toss, dunking booth, ring toss and pumpkin bowling. There will also be face-painting -- both zombie-themed and kid-friendly -- a “zombie shoot” and a zombie wedding chapel. The Hardaway drum line and the dance team will also perform. And if you get hungry (for something other than brains) there will be BBQ sandwiches, hot dogs, baked goods and other food for sale.

While the festival’s undead theme is not intended to scare people, Snow said since people will be dressed up as zombies, parents should use their own judgment when bringing children.
