If you need a reason to like Colt Ford, consider this: He’s not a fan of tofu or wine.

He makes the confession on his official website, offering evidence that he’s similar to the fans who attend his shows.

“The reason my fans come out to my shows is because they appreciate that I’m talking honestly about their lives. I’m just like they are,” the country singer says on his website.

Ford performs Friday at Columbus nightclub Illusions. Ricky Gunn will open the show.

Ford hails from Athens, Ga. He’s earned a strong fan following with hits like “Country Thang,” “Cold Beer” and “Ride Through the Country.”

That whole no tofu, no wine thing isn’t an act. If he wants to prove he’s relatable, Ford doesn’t have to work too hard to argue his case.

Just consult Ford’s Twitter account, where he recently sent a tweet about hunting to fellow country singer Blake Shelton.

Then, of course, there are the singer’s countless food-related tweets. Among his recent reflections: “We can send a Man to the Moon but we can’t make a Big Mac that is Fat Free.”

Another tweet we enjoyed: “One person working at Steak n Shake she doing it all. I’m about to get Me a Job cause I can cook a Cheeseburger. I wanna eat it also.”

See, Colt Ford is just like you. Unless you’re a vegetarian.

He’ll likely deliver lots of personality at Friday’s show.

Even if you’re in the audience and he’s on stage, the playing field will probably seem equal.

While you’re at the concert, shout out a few dining recommendations -- just make sure wine and tofu aren’t involved.
