Gusto! and Night Walk: Don’t miss out on November fundraisers

sokamoto@ledger-enquirer.comNovember 3, 2011

Columbus State University Schwob School of Music presents a fundraising event called Gusto! on Nov. 12.

The Schwob School is calling it “an elegant evening of fare and flair.”

Gail Greenblatt has been helping organize the event. She said it will include a five-course dinner that will explore the cuisine of Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia and France.

As each course is served, music students will perform music of that country.

Can you imagine anything more sublime?

The event is 6:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the RiverMill Event Centre, 3715 First Ave.

Tickets are $75, but you must order tickets by 5 p.m. Monday.

What to wear? Sunday dress or cocktail attire for women; suit and tie for men.

Call Laura Johnson, the music school’s development coordinator, at 706-649-7287, for more information.

Night Walk

Don’t forget to get your tickets for the March of Dimes Night Walk at Callaway Gardens’ Fantasy in Lights.

Believe it or not, this year is the 20th Fantasy In Lights and the 19th Night Walk.

On most nights, guests must ride the trolley or drive in their cars to see the lights. At the Night Walk, however, guests can take their time walking between the displays.

But beware of those with strollers and wagons.

I have nothing against little children having fun, seeing the lights. I have a problem with their parents who don’t care about other people. They will stop in their tracks making other people weave around them. Or they’ll not pay attention to those is in front of them and run you down.

OK. I’ll quit my ranting.

Last year, more than 6,000 people walked through Night Walk.

Walk times are 6 p.m. (which sells out first), 6:30 p.m. and 7 p.m.

If you buy tickets at Callaway Gardens on Nov. 20, only the 7 p.m. time slot will be available.

Tickets are $16, $8 for children 6-12; free for children 5 and younger.

Collapsible strollers and wagons are allowed. Bicycles, roller skates, inlight skates and skateboard are not allowed. Neither are dogs, unless they are service dogs.
