The LaGrange Symphony Orchestra presents “Voices of Autumn” at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 22, in Callaway Auditorium, 801 Dallis St, on the LaGrange College campus.

The concert will feature a performance by the LaGrange Symphony Chorus conducted by Debbie Ogle. Other selections include music from Elgar and Tchaikovsky.

Opening the program is Duruflè’s "Requiem." “This work is stunningly beautiful -- peaceful -- akin to the style and atmosphere of Faurè's, and similar as well in the choice of liturgy that each chose to set," said Ogle in a statement. "Just as Faurè did, so too did Duruflè end his work with the antiphon, 'In Paradisum,' a gentle text that depicts the angels welcoming the departed to heaven's glory in the gentlest of musical settings.”

Faythe Freese, director of organ studies at the University of Alabama, a renowned concert organist who plays all over the world, is the guest organist.

“I've worked with her before," Ogle said in a statement. "She is a fine musician and is quite convinced that Duruflè’s Requiem must be part of the music we'll hear in heaven! She may well be right.”

After intermission, LSO conductor Patricio Cobos will lead the orchestra in Elgar’s "Serenade for Strings in E Minor." The final piece of the concert is Tchaikovsky’s "Serenade for Strings in C Major."

Toni Anderson preview of the music that will be played at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5-$25; children who are in fifth grade and younger get in free with an adult.
