Want to learn about more about cycling in the Valley?
Check out the Family Bike Rodeo and Childrens Helmet Giveaway at Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center on Saturday.
The day begins at 9 a.m. with an eight-mile family group ride from Uptown to the learning center.
All cyclists are invited to an informal breakfast of coffee and snacks after the ride at 10 a.m. at the learning center, where they can chat with city officials and other riders about the state of cycling in the community. Brent Buice, the executive director of Georgia Bikes! will speak at 10:30 a.m.
For the kids, theres a bike rodeo and helmet giveaway at 11 a.m. at the center. The center will give away 200 kids helmets, ranging in size from toddler to extra-large, donated by Safe Kids Columbus. Kids can get fitted for helmets, ride through an obstacle course, learn about bike maintenance and learn how to react at road crossings.
The event is free. All cyclists should meet at the corner of 10th and Broadway at 9 a.m. For more information, visit www.columbusstate.edu/oxbow.
