SEC football championship game preview: Key Georgia Bulldogs to watch

Published: December 3, 2011

Aaron Murray, QB

Ht/Wt: 6-1, 211. Class: Sophomore.

Key Stat: 32 touchdown passes.

Need to know: Arguably the SEC’s best passer, Murray blossomed into the kind of quarterback who rode Georgia’s play-action passing attack to the top of the conference in touchdown passes (32) and pass efficiency (155.4). If Murray has a weak point, it’s that he still tries to force the ball into tight spots, which led to a league-high 10 interceptions.

Isaiah Crowell, RB

Ht/Wt: 5-11, 215. Class: Freshman.

Key stat: 4.8 yards per carry.

Need to know: Crowell, who has struggled with nagging injuries and is coming off of an ankle injury, needs to be at full strength for this game. When Crowell is at his best, the Carver graduate is one of the SEC’s most promising backs. He finished with 83.2 yards per game, fifth in the league, and five touchdowns.

Bacarri Rambo, S

Ht/Wt: 6-0, 218. Class: Junior.

Key stat: 7 interceptions.

Need to know: The ultimate ballhawk, Rambo leads the SEC in interceptions and passes defended. Rambo also has a fumble recovery. Once Rambo has the ball in his hands, he has the return ability to get to the end zone. Against LSU, the 218-pound Rambo will have to be physical in run support to stop the Tigers’ stable of backs.
