Councilor Judy Thomas says she is not out to get City Manager Isaiah Hugley fired

Published: December 13, 2011

Councilor Judy Thomas denies that she’s out to get City Manager Isaiah Hugley, of which she says she’s been accused.

During Columbus Council’s discussion Tuesday of her proposal to remove evaluation of the city manager, among others, from the mayor’s office, Thomas said she wanted to set the record straight.

“I did not propose this in order to fire the city manager, as I have been accused,” Thomas said, turning toward Hugley on the other side of the council horseshoe desk. “Mr. City Manager, I want to tell you in front of God and everybody, ‘I am not after your job.’

“I don’t want you fired. I don’t want the city attorney fired and I don’t want the internal auditor fired. I don’t want anybody fired.”
