Recap: DePaul vs. Cal Poly

Cleveland Melvin and Brandon Young netted 16 points each to lead the DePaul Blue Demons to a 63-58 victory over the Cal Poly Mustangs in a non-conference battle at Allstate Arena.

Jamee Crockett added 10 points in the win for DePaul (9-3), which has now won five straight games.

David Hanson finished with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds to pace Cal Poly (8-4), while Amaurys Fermin and Will Taylor notched 11 points each. Taylor was also able to record a double-double, hauling in 10 boards in the loss, bringing an end to a three-game win streak for the Mustangs.

The Mustangs were held to a miserable 26.9 percent from the field during the opening frame, enabling DePaul to take a 28-21 lead into the break. The Blue Demons then hit 48.0 percent from the floor over the final 20 minutes en route to the five-point win.

The Mustangs shot at a meager 37.7 percent clip during the contest.
