Recap: Virginia Tech vs. Eastern Mich

Erick Green scored 12 points and dished out four assists to lead the Virginia Tech Hokies as they defeated the Eastern Michigan Eagles 71-50 in a non-conference match up at Cassell Coliseum.

Cadarian Raines was a spark off the bench with 10 points for Virginia Tech (10-3) as it won its fifth-straight game. C.J. Barksdale pulled down a game- high 10 rebounds.

Antonio Green and Darrell Lampley each had 13 points for Eastern Michigan (5-7), but they struggled shooting as they combined to go 9-of-30 from the field. Jamell Harris grabbed a team-high six rebounds.

The Eagles trailed 27-9 at halftime after making just 3-of-21 field goal attempts in the first half. The nine-point half by Eastern Michigan was the second lowest scoring output in a half in a Division I game this season. The Hokies made 45.3 percent of their attempts in the opening period to build the lead.

Both teams heated up after the break. The Eagles made 36.1 of their attempts from the floor but allowed Virginia Tech to make 47.1 percent of its field goal attempts in the second half.

The Eagles shot a season-low 28.1 percent from the floor (16 of 57). That also marked the lowest shooting percentage by a Virginia Tech opponent this season. The Hokies enjoyed a 43-31 advantage in the rebounding battle en route to the victory.
