Ronald Nored scored 18 points and dished out five assists for the Bulldogs as Butler took down Stanford 71-66 in a non- conference battle at the Maples Pavilion.
Jackson Aldridge was a spark off the bench for Butler (6-7) with 15 points and Andrew Smith had 10. Roosevelt Jones pulled down a team-high nine rebounds in the winning effort.
Josh Owens led Stanford (10-2) with 17 points and nine rebounds. Chasson Randle contributed 16 points, John Gage had 12, and Aaron Bright scored 11. The loss snapped the Cardinal's 15-game home winning streak against non- conference opponents.
Stanford led 31-26 at the intermission after shooting 52.2 percent from the field in the opening period. The Bulldogs kept it close by making 42.3 percent of their shots from the floor in the first half.
Butler came out firing in the second half as it made 50 percent of its shots from the field and 6-of-9 from three-point range after the break. The Bulldogs built a nine-point lead with 3:10 left to play. The Cardinal cut the lead to three with 12 seconds remaining, but Nored made both his free throws to clinch the win for the visitors.
The Bulldogs shot 45.5 percent from three-point range and enjoyed a 34-29 advantage in the rebounding battle.
