John Bohannon scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds as UTEP defeated Auburn, 83-76, in the third-place game of the Diamond Head Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Michael Perez netted 18 points and Jacques Streeter added 12 points for the Miners (6-6), who have won four of their past five games after a 1-4 start.

Kenny Gabriel paced Auburn (8-3) with 24 points, eight rebounds and four assists, while Varez Ward and Josh Langford added 18 and 16 points, respectively.

The Miners shot 45 percent in the first half, and connected on 4-of-6 shots from three-point range for a 37-31 halftime lead.

Perez nailed a backbreaking three-pointer with just over two minutes left to give UTEP a 73-65 lead.

The Miners made their free throws down the stretch.
