Derek Pallardy scores overtime goal to lift Columbus Cottonmouths over Augusta RiverHawks

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Derek Pallardy scored an unassisted goal 2:03 into overtime Saturday as the Cottonmouths skated away with a 4-3 victory.

Orrin Hergott scored half of the Columbus goals. The first one came on the power play, assisted by Bret Tyler, 1:46 into the game. Daniel Amesbury’s second-period goal, off assists from Mitch Wall and Jordan Braid, tied it 2-2 at the 3:06 mark of the second period. Hergott notched his second score of the game seven minutes later, depositing Greg Beller’s assist, to give the Cottonmouths a 3-2 lead.

But with 17 seconds left in regulation, Augusta found the equalizer with an extra attacker.

Andrew Loewen earned the win in net for Columbus. He saved 25 of 28 shots. Jon Olthuis took the loss, saving 21 of 25 shots.
