Like most others who have been suffering from "Mad Men" withdrawal over the past year and a half, March 25 which is when the two-hour fifth-season premiere will air on AMC can't come soon enough.
I'm already involved in at least one story of my own pertaining to the premiere, but Newsweek seems to be one-upping us all with an entire issue devoted to the 1960s. The retro-themed issue will hit newsstands March 19.
An excerpt from Business Insider:
Robert Gregory, the president of Newsweek Daily Beast, told Ad Age that the magazine was hoping to replicate the advertisements of the 1960s as well.
"We've challenged agencies and clients to do '60s-inspired creative, but for modern messages and products," he said.
I love the idea and I think it will be a profitable move for Newsweek. I never buy that magazine, but you better believe I'll be thinking about it pretty hard when the time comes, just for the aesthetic. It's a good way for them to appeal to a broader base, as I'm sure they're well aware.
The issue will include a cover story on "Mad Men" as well as a piece on the role of advertising in American culture.
