I am so glad to open the paper this morning and seeing that "The Artist" is finally here.
But here's a warning for those of you who want to see this sure-to-be-nominated-for-an-Oscar next Tuesday: It is a silent movie. Repeat: It is a silent movie.
And like old-timey silent films, it's in black-and-white. I'm told that there is a cute dog who some people say should be nominated for an Oscar.
There was a story on "Good Morning America" that some people asked for a refund because the sound was off in the theater.
Come on! I heard about this movie months ago and the commentator was amazed that a French filmmaker made a silent movie.
So if you go, don't ask the Carmike Cinemas operator to turn the sound up. The actors do no talk.
It's at the Ritz 13, 1683 Whittlesey Road. Show times are 1:05 p.m., 3:35 p.m., 7 p.m., 9:40 p.m. and 12:10 a.m. this weekend.
I can't wait to see it. I'll probably see some of you there this weekend.
Tickets are $10.25 Friday-Saturday and $9.75 Sunday-Thursday for adults; $6.50 Friday-Saturday and $6 Sunday-Thursday for seniors 65 and older; $8 Friday-Saturday and $7.75 Monday-Thursday for matinees; $7.50 Friday-Saturday and $7 Sunday-Thursday for children ages 3-11.
"The Artist" is not on the Carmike Cinemas website, but it is on their ad today.
