I just got a press release that the new 25th anniversary production of "Les Miserables" will be at the Fox Theatre, 660 Peachtree St. NE.
Even the play had been touring America for years, I didn't see it until about 13 years ago or so when it made a stop in Atlanta. It wasn't at the Fox Theatre on that run. It was in the Atlanta Civic Center.
I went to see an actor/singer who had done several shows at the Springer Opera House. I just had a senior moment and can't remember his name.
He played Enjolras, one of the student protesters.
This time, it's the a newly revamped version of the classic that's based on the Victor Hugo book. It opened in London in 1985 and on Broadway in 1987. The final show on Broadway was in 2008. It's still one of the longest running musicals on Broadway.
I don't recognize any of the actors in this tour, but I highly recommend that you see this.
It can be seen at 8 p.m. April 24-27; 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. April 28 and 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. April 29.
Tickets are $38.85-$103.15.
You can call Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 to charge tickets. In person, you can go to area Publix grocery stores to buy tickets. But remember that it's cash only.
And speaking of "Les Miserables," you know that there is a movie in production. Well, it hasn't started filming, but some characters have been cast.
Hugh Jackman has been cast as Jean Valjean and Russell Crowe as his nemesis Inspector Javert. Also confirmed are Anne Hathaway as Fantine, Eddie Redmayne as Marius and Amanda Seyfried as Cosette. Aaron Tveit just signed as Enjolras.
Now, Taylor Swift is in London talking to producer Cameron Mackintosh to play Eponine.
Oh, my God! Please, no!
One online critic said " think she is perfect for Les Miserables, her voice is miserable."
Got that right.
