As much as I'd like to be a fashionista, the closest I can come to a Roberto Cavalli creation is to buy his perfume, Oro. And I bought that at TJ Maxx for $20 (the regular price was $58).
So imagine my jealousy when I found out on "Good Morning America" today that top designers are making clothes for kids. Designers like Versace, Gucci, Fendi, Dior, Burberry and Lanvin!
And parents are buying them.
A little fur Gucci Kids coat for $2,900? Or a Lanvin Petite sundress for $1,100?
I don't think so.
But apparently, someone's buying these clothes.
NPD Group Inc., a consumer tracking service, reports that children's clothing sold more than $32 billion last year. And $800 million of that number were for designer clothing.
Someone in that report said parents can't afford to buy these clothes for themselves, but are willing to dress their children in high-priced outfits.
As I said, I don't think so.
