Suffering a case of the Mondays? Try celebrating Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day.

Yes, that's a real holiday held today, Jan. 30.

An Indiana radio station started the celebration in 2001, the Bubble Wrap Appreciation Day website notes. The station hosted a Bubblympiad with events like a popping relay and sculpture and design contests.

Two New Jersey engineers invented Bubble Wrap in 1957. Originally, they were trying to make a plastic wallpaper with a paper backing. When idea didn't work, the product transformed into a cushioning packaging material.
