Two Columbus Catholic schools are merging. The Diocese of Savannah announced today that Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School will merge with St. Anne-Pacelli.
Our Lady of Lourdes, which has been in business since 1960 in South Columbus, was having a fundraising campaign to try to stay alive but did not get the $250,000 needed.
In a press release, Father LaBurt of Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, said, "Both schools have a long history of providing a quality Catholic education and have a close working relationship. For 51 yearts our Our Lady of Lourdes School has provided education of the highest caliber to hundreds of Columbus students. With the merger, this tradition will continue on the campus of St. Anne-Pacelli."
