You remember Markeith Milner, right?

Back in 2007, when Milner was 23, Columbus police arrested him on murder accusations. Milner was held for 13 days in April 2007 before police dropped the charges and he was released. In July 2007, city leaders cut him a check for $31,200 and offered their apology.

Milner’s picture, fingerprints and record for the case were expunged from Columbus Police Department records, his attorney said at the time.

It looks like after Milner’s Feb. 1 arrest on unrelated charges, that information is back on file.

Police say Milner was stopped about 12:30 a.m. Feb. 1 at 13th Avenue and Rhodes Street for having a faulty tail light. Milner opened the door to his car, and the officer saw what looked like a bag of marijuana on the driver’s side floorboard.

The cop asked Milner what else he had in the car. Milner said he had a beer, reports state.

“The subject then reached into the passengers seat, pulled back a shirt and grabbed a black handgun,” the report continues.

Whoa.

The officer ordered Milner to drop the gun and got him out of the car. The officer then asked if Milner had anything illegal in the car. Milner said he didn’t, police said.

Next step: the officer asks if Milner has any problem with the car getting searched. Milner said he had no problem, the report states.

Police then say they found less than a gram of marijuana residue on some digital scales and about 30 baggies.

That led to three charges against Milner: misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug related objects and the tail light violation.
