Columbus police: 2 charged with drug offenses during traffic stop

An expired license tag led to drug charges against two Columbus men on Tuesday, reports state.

Jermaine Hill, 39, and John Houston Holmes, 28, are charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of drug related objects. Hill also faces traffic violations, police said.

According to reports, an officer stopped Hill’s 1990 Honda about 2:20 p.m. Tuesday at Cherokee Avenue and Camille Drive because it had an expired tag. During the traffic stop, the officer found drugs on both men.

Police say $280 worth of meth, $93 worth of marijuana and $40 worth of cocaine were in the car. The officer also found small bags, weighing scales and a glass pipe.
