Five-star wide receiver Stefon Diggs, the second-ranked high school pass-catcher in the nation, chose Maryland over Auburn, Florida and Ohio State in a highly publicized ceremony Friday night.
Diggs, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound receiver from Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, Md., took his final visit to Maryland last weekend.
I want to win championships; I want to win bowl games, Diggs told the Washington Post. Where else to do it but in your city?
Diggs would have been the 21st signee in Auburns 2012 recruiting class and the Tigers third receiver overall. Auburn already has signed Sandy Creek (Ga.) receiver JaQuay Williams and Miami Beach (Fla.) receiver Ricardo Louis.
Only one target remains for Auburn, a team that has signed 20 recruits for the 2012 class. Valor Christian (Colo.) offensive lineman Alex Kozan is still undecided after backing away from his pre-signing day commitment to Iowa.
