A 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team soldier died Sunday after he was found unresponsive in his barracks, a Fort Benning spokesman said today.
Spc. Matthew R. Woods, 22, was assigned to the 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team. He was found in his barracks Sunday morning and later pronounced dead by paramedics.
No foul play is suspected in the soldier's death, a spokesman said. Officials are awaiting the results of an autopsy.
Woods was from Lyman, N.H. He entered the Army in January 2009 as a cavalry scout. After training at Fort Knox, Ky., he was assigned to the 3rd Brigade in May 2009.
