Cable TV and multimedia company Knology has broken ground today on a 6,000-square-foot facility in Northwest Harris Business Park in West Point, Ga.
The project by West Point-based Knology, which also serves the Columbus market, comes at a price tag of $5 million. It will create about 60 jobs, said Becca Hardin, executive vice president with the Greater Columbus Chamber of Commerce and The Valley Partnership.
Northwest Business Park is located in the far reaches of Harris County and is home to several companies now, including Johnson Controls, a Kia Motors parts supplier. The park is located off Georgia Highway 103.
“This facility will house the latest in advanced technology solutions for voice, video and data services,” John Treece, Knology chief technical officer, said in a statement. “This investment is consistent with Knology’s ongoing commitment to offer our customers the highest quality entertainment experience.”
Taking part in today’s groundbreaking were Harris County Commission Chair Harry Lange, West Point Mayor Drew Ferguson IV and chambers of commerce and development authority officials from Harris County, West Point and Valley, Ala.
