Fort Benning officials will host an Open House, including a live-fire weapons demonstration March 15 from 3 to 4 p.m. on Red Cloud Range, followed by a public meeting concerning noise effects of weapons firing on post. The public meeting will be held in Fort Bennings headquarters building, McGinnis-Wickam Hall, in Marshall Auditorium at 4:30 p.m.
For more than a decade, Fort Benning, in partnership with the surrounding communities, has looked at the potential impacts on its neighbors. This Open House will provide an opportunity for community members to observe live-fire training firsthand, as well as learn about efforts to curtail the impact of noise.
Transportation to the demonstration and meeting will be provided at no cost. Buses will depart the National Infantry Museum parking lot at 2:20 p.m. and return after the public meeting at approximately 5:45 p.m.
To attend, RSVP to Brad Castleberry at 706-545-2238 by March 12.
